Oxford Engineering Biology
Oxford Engineering Biology is an interdisciplinary collection of researchers and academics across the University of Oxford with an interest in harnessing the power of biology to tackle the Grand Challenges of our time, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Combining tools and approaches from engineering, biology and other disciplines we are developing approaches for the rational and predictable design, engineering and scale-up of biological systems. Through doctoral training and support for early career researchers we are also training the next generation of academic and industrial leaders in this emerging field. Ongoing research and activities conducted through programmes such as the Engineering Biology Centre for Doctoral Training (EngBioCDT) and the EEBio Programme Grant provide the critical mass for building a research community around this new area. Together, we are working on cutting-edge projects with wide-ranging applications to realise economic and societal benefits and address real-world needs.
